About us

DERECHO (Defense of European Rights and Excellence for Consumers Harmonization) is a Jean Monnet Module of the European Union coordinated by CEU San Pablo University. Its mission is to lead innovation and strengthen knowledge and implementation of Consumer Law in the European Union, with a special focus on digital fairness, sustainability, and the harmonization of consumer protection within the Single Market. The project combines teaching, research, and outreach, bringing European law closer to society through training activities, academic publications, and awareness-raising initiatives.

The project revolves around three major strategic pillars aligned with the European Union’s pro-consumer policies: online and offline regulatory harmonization, Digital Fairness for a just digital transition, and sustainability within the framework of the Green Transition.

The New European Consumer Law: Ten Reforms for its Modernization in the 2020s
The collective work “The New European Consumer Law: Ten Reforms for its Modernization in the 2020s” is authored by professors from Univ. San Pablo CEU and 5 other public and private universities, analyzing major reforms in European Union Consumer Law from a digital and sustainable perspective. It will be published in the Private Law collection of the Official State Gazette (Boletín Oficial del Estado - BOE) in both paper and Open Access formats, freely accessible to the entire community.
