Student participation in the public consultation on the Digital Fairness Act

A unique educational experience that “brings Brussels to the classrooms, and the classrooms to Brussels”.

Full Text: Within the framework of the Jean Monnet Module DERECHO – Defense of European Rights and Excellence for Consumers HarmonizatiOn, students actively participated in the European Commission’s public consultation on the future “Digital Fairness Act”, contributing their proposals and ideas on how to ensure a fairer, more transparent, and balanced digital environment for all European citizens.

This activity allowed students to express their opinions critically and constructively, speaking not only on behalf of their own generation—digital natives—but also for future generations. One of the most notable aspects was that the topic generating the most interest was the influencer phenomenon, surpassing other major strands of the DFA such as addictive patterns or certain dark patterns. Their comments can be read on the public consultation website at: https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/better-regulation/have-your-say/initiatives/14622-Digital-Fairness-Act_en A unique educational experience that “brings Brussels to the classrooms, and the classrooms to Brussels”.
